History
Labour Day is an annual holiday celebrated all over the world that resulted from efforts of the labour union movement, to celebrate the economic and social achievement of workers.
The celebration of Labour Day has its origins in the eight hour day movement, which advocated eight hours for work, eight hours for recreation, and eight hours for rest. On 21 April 1856 Stonemasons and building workers on building sites around Melbourne, Australia, stopped work and marched from the University of Melbourne to Parliament House to archive an eight hour day. Their direct action protest was a success, and they are noted as the first organized workers in the world to archive an eight hour day with no loss of pay, which subsequently inspired the celebration of Labour Day and May Day.
Malaysia
- the Malaysia Employment Act 1955 stated that workers should never be allowed to work more than 8 hours without a break in between. So, don’t work too late
- For unemployment rate, Malaysia is in ranking 31 among the world with 3.1% of umployment rate. Source from The World Factbook.

yeah… my guitar sound is changing slowly… its halfway of being transformed into something that i seldom play before. i will not sound like i used to, which i am going to miss terribly. i am also afraid that the change will NOT suite me/band. there’s no choice for me but to go ahead with my new sound because my taste has changed. our music style is still the same… just the sound will be a bit different. i hope it can blend well with the other instruments.
last few weeks have been exhausting for me… i was spending about several hours a day researching my new sound and i have ventured into unknown territories. during weekends, i spent about 6 hours a day to look for new sound. its getting there bit by bit… but it comes with a price of not spending time doing other things…
i’m also changing my playing style. i’m revamping it. i dont want to redo what i did previously because i think my sound was lacking.

i’m making some changes to my guitar sound… i’m trying to limit myself with the luxury that i previously had. well… what does that mean? it means, i want to cut down on unnecesary guitar pedal effects and *try* to rely more on myself.
its easy to duplicate the gear of great guitarists as long as you have the money. you want money? get a good education and work for a big fat company that let you learn more so that with your knowledge, you can sell yourself at a higher rate. when you are able to achieve that, you can duplicate the gears of many great guitarists.
however, you may not sound like them… not even close. i’m redefining my sound to be clearer, dynamic and more transparent. but i need to woodshed(practise) my fingers to be able to play like i used to, 2 years back. i probably need about a month to do so. i’m changing my playing style bit by bit. i won’t be sounding as heavy as previous.
if you ask who i will sound like? i don’t know lah… i think soundless.
ah hooi’s tone is getting nicer than 2 years ago.

after stupid Youtube deleted my “Yui: Cherry on guitar video”, and sent me a warning email asking me not to post any more video with “copyright violation”, i already tulan them and never record or post anymore.
this canon rock, was recorded and posted by our drummer ah leow using his handphone without my knowledge, as i was playing for a student in the studio… playing with tempo slips and misc hiccups…
i am still wondering why the hell they deleted my video after all, they DID NOT delete all the others playing Cherry… &^%%$#%$*^&(%&

not many guitarists inspire. for most of my playing influence, guitarists such as eric johnson, yngwie malmsteen, kenny wayne shepherd and stevie ray vaughn are all fender stratocaster players. i have nothing against humbucker guitar players but i just can’t play a humbucker guitar.
i *tried* to like a humbucker guitar and even bought one in 2004 for a few days before selling it off. sad. humbucker guitars supposed to be powerful but somehow it doesn’t suit my taste.
the guitar players whom i mentioned above have inspired me very much from young especially yngwie malmsteen but i do not play anything like him or any of the rest of the guitarists. some people manage to play like them, i wish i could
there is however, one guitar player whom is a humbucker guitar player that i like very much. he’s a local guitarist from the band lefthanded. his name is samad. uglymen know him personally and he has great touch on the guitar, at least to my ears. even if his theory and notes repertoire are limited, his sound is inspiring.
catch him play here with hong kong band DSC.
joget
nafas terakhir
to my ears, the drummer seems like struggling on the songs. especially “nafas terakhir”.
the other humbucker guitarist who inspires me is kyoji yamamoto — he was an invited artist in ella’s album during the 90’s. his instrumental song “itulah saya” was incredible, great touch, HUGE dynamics and aggresive feel. the tone is to die for!
samad and kyoji yamamoto were featured in local guitar instrumental CD called mentera metal — i love this CD very much until today. believe it or not, i have 1 cassette and 2 CDs of mentera metal. i lost the last CD. probably need to search my house or else need to buy again.

This was my first trip to pulau pangkor at Lumut Perak. I joined my company treasure hunt event called Explorace. It\’s a fun and challenging event. There were 30 groups of participants, and each group consists of 4 members. The Explorace started from Penang along the way until Lumut. Finally, we managed to won prize no.5..kekekeke. Here is some photos during the trip.

Visited a chinese temple. From there, you can get a good view of the sea and mountain.

There is a phase writing about “If I want a people like me, then there must be 2 of me”. It means that everyone is the world is unique.

Visited a Satay Fish kilang.

Another chinese temple with mini Great Wall beside.

On the way back home. We r number 5.
