INSANE!!! car petrol up by 30 cent per litre… wah lau eh…

my mom called me around 10.52pm just now and told me that car petrol gonna go up by 30 cent from RM1.62 to RM1.92 per litre. that's an increase of 18.5% – the highest so far… u can see in a few days time — taxi fare will go up, bas kilang goes up, hawker food goes up… and what is not up… aha! u guys guess it right, our salary/allowances… bwahahaha…

as insane as i can be, i quickly drove my hybrid van+car or some people call it “a van car”, or pronounced eloquently as “a-van-za” to the nearest SHELL petrol station about 1.5km from my apartment and my gosh…

party at da pump!!!

these people is as kiasu and kiasi as me… KAKAKAKA

i pumped RM50.00 for about 30 litre of petrol just now… which means i saved 30litre X 0.30cent = RM9.00 KAKAKAKAKAKAKAKA
it was the longest petrol queue in my whole life… now i'm at home enjoying the internet with some “tammy nyp” clip… yahoo~~~

Love Bubble Tea ^_^ Ringtone For You

Some cool newz from my sister-in-law yesterday (kekeke, sister-in-law means my brother’s wife, just in case some people dont understand, it’s not my sister got in trouble with the law) kekeke

She is a teacher in Jitra, Kedah. Surprisingly she told me she heard her colleague’s handphone ringtone was the world most famous band Ugaymen’s “Love Bubble Tea”. Since last year when the album was out, I already started to circulate the ringtones of the UGLY album among my students, but how on earth did it get into a teacher’s handphone in Jitra, I have no idea…

it’s a good thing though :-)

HONG KONG BAND “BEYOND” TOO LAME?

I was sitting at the “waiting area” at Muzik Sistem (the place where i teach music), kekeke, actually to say “waiting area” is quite funny, cause it's not a clinic or hospital, but i cant figure out any other suitable words, “resting area”? certainly it's not a place to let student to rest or sleep, so, i used the term “waiting area” la… Since it is just outside of the studios and students will have to wait there… kekeke

All right, enough of that crap. I was sitting there, then i over heard a few boyz (about 15-18 yrs old i guess), talking about the Hong Kong band BEYOND, they were talking about forming a band and playing songs. Certainly they were not my students, but i was not sure too whether they are other teachers' students or just came here with friends…

Here's roughly the conversation:

A: Play Beyond song lo
B: What? That band ah? NO want la, so lame, no taste one.
A: Then wat song ni?
C: Play la Simple Plan, Hoobastank, Greenday, Uglymen…

(ok ok…. the last band i added, they din say… kekeke)

then A, B and C went on blah blah blah…..

By looking at the way they talk, I doubt they can play a decent song.

So i kepochi started to lecture them, oh, by the way, i guess they are either new to Muzik Sistem or they never see me before, cause I was replacing classes on Thursday 2pm, (my classes start regularly at 4pm). So I thought they din even notice i am a teacher there, as i was wearing not like a teacher, as always (long pants with Uglymen T shirt, shirt never tug in, hair never comb and wearing the huge oval shape blue tinted spec, plus lousy slippers)

(Forgot which sentence said by A, B or C, anyway, it was from them la)

Me: Hey, you guys forming a band? great! When you guys jemming? can i come?

A: we are just preparing to start la, our frined learning here want to play band

Me: What songs u guys gonna play?

B: dono la, see, green day lo…

C: (this guy looked malu malu but the other two seemed quite confident)

Me: you guys heard of Beyond before?

B: Ya, we dont like that band, lame stuff.

C: beh eong la Beyond…

I asked each of them what instrument they play, and got to know their playing standard more.

Me: Playing in a band is for enjoyment but at the same time you need to improve, or else you will just be wasting time and achieving nothing, but playing at the same level even after 5 years.

They: How to improve?

Me: Well, to start off, listen more Beyond and play Beyond.

I stood up, as my student came and walked into the studio, by the way, i have posters of Beyond and Wong Ka Kui glued to the wall inside my studio :-)

My point above was actually simple, i din mean to force them listen to Beyond, off course every one has their own taste and types of songs which they like to play, but that sentence “Beyond is too lame” really triggered off my appetite of “lecturing” them.

To me, no matter you like or not, Beyond is not lame, just one simple question, off so many Chinese bands outside (amature), which Chinese band has NEVER play Beyond before, how deep has Beyond influenced the music scene not only in Malaysia but all around Asia. I am proudly here to state that I picked up my first guitar note because of Beyond, Uglymen is Uglymen today because of Beyond. I am a music teacher today, well, partly, is because of Beyond. In a way or another, Beyond has “accompanied” most of the youths and teenagers growing up back in the late 80's, early 90's even to the mid 90's. The wonderful melody, soothing vocal (i mean ka Kui), very meaningful lyrics and lastly, simple yet so sweet-listening guitar solo, all of these were a part of so many people when they were growing up.

Ka Kui RIP in Jiang Jun Ao cemetary.

I still remember one of my students had told be long ago, Beyond's solo too simple and nothing to show off. What I answered was simple: Playing music is always about enjoyment, communication, celebration of humanity and way of touching yours and others soul. Not for showing off.

Beyond is not a band, Beyond is a culture, Beyond is a legend.
Well, since they already disbanded, they are now really “legend”, kekeke, u know what i mean, dont you? :-)

Going home empty handed?

So, whoever said that this season Manchester United is going home empty handed, especially Mr Mourinho, well, at least MU has grabbed a trophy even before Chelsea getting one, opps, not to mention, they ARE losing the chemapion’s league match to Barca….

I will have two more matches to anticipate for this season:

Barcelona vs Chelsea (which 90% Chelsea will lose)
Chelsea vs MU (which Chelsea will have home advantage)

2006 Carling Cup Final

With Ronaldo mesmerizing the right wing and Rooney running riot, it’s hard to see Wigan could even get a goal.

MU 4    Wigan 0

Rooney 33″
Saha 56″
Ronaldo 59″
Rooney 61″

Congratulations MU!!

huh? wah lau eh… soccer site?

Metal added: yeah yeah..and this is my latest gay look…kekeke

i haven't logged on to uglymen.net site for a while… and seems that it has changed to a semi-soccer site… aduih… :(

things have been slow at uglymen.net and there hasn't been any gig lately. the one that is near sight is the “ji gong birthday bash” in alor setar in may. tentative date/time/venue is not known yet. we have sent our proposal to the organizer and they'll inform us whether it's a go or no go. the organizer needs to fork out RM1,500 for the sound system including instruments and PA system. anyway, let's hope for the best.

individually, uglymen has been busy lately with everyone's own stuff/career/life/commitment. after a while, we are just normal human being like u guys… except that we rock. :D bwahahaha… apologize for the hao-lian-ness… hehehe…

the band has been inactively lately.. haven't really gotten together to practise since the singapore gigs (mid of january) as everyone of us has been busy with our own stuff.

we haven't been able to get gigs — meaning u guys wont be seeing us play often since gigs/performances are hard to come by. if we are able to get gigs, we have to self fund — meaning, in order for us to perform, we gotta PAY! :D yeap… u heard it right. indie music has not been receiving positive feedback despite funding from sponsors. maybe the bands on the other site of the straits (overseas bands) are greener than us :) only a handful of fans and friends like you guys may enjoy the music that we composed/performed. as for the rest, they might not appreciate rock music (they see it as noise music :) ).

there comes a time where if we (UGLYMEN) want to perform, we have to pay for sound system and renting of the venue before we are allowed to perform. the tickets at the door are meant to cover our expenses let alone performance fee :D

actually, this is the current situation that we are facing and it's hard to get gigs to come by. due to this, we (UGLYMEN) have decided to take a seat back and do our own stuff when there's not much gigging opportunity. everyone of us will be:

me – work and might need to travel to other states to implement healthcare system.
mike – he has left with only 2 students in penang and has to conduct replacement classes for his music students because he has owed the music school a lot of lessons when he took leave during weekends to perform with uglymen for the past few months.

kj – will be concentrating on his career and taking in more drums students at groove music school at taman pekaka, penang. because of the band commitment, he has rejected students wanting to learn drums on weekends. right now, rockers out there is able to learn rock drumming from him on weekends at groove music – tel: 04-6585866
hooi – will be organizing gay parties, gay hotline and fighting for distribution rights to sell brokeback mountain movie as well as starring in local TV production call “jerai mountain” to be shot in gurun, kedah. this film will be directed by acclaimed director ong gay suan and co-star with michael lee gay pin. on top of that, hooi will co-host a new talk show with taiwan pop star “jacky wu”. the talk show is similar to jacky wu's “guess guess guess”. hooi's version is “gay gay gay”.

Unstoppable

(Photo: AP, UEFA.com)

Ronaldinho was in dazzling unstoppable form as my favourite Barcelona shot down billionaire club Chelsea into tatters..

wahahahahha….

I was watching the match at 4.15pm when Chelsea was shown a red card (insert terrible laughing icon here), and then who else helped Barcelona on the way? it was Chelsea captain John Terry heading in an own goal for Barca. Wahahaha….
Sambil tengok bola, sambil sms dengan cikgu man, cikgu man said: Chelsea main kotok, malam ini mesti kalah…
wahahaha….

Just before i went home wednesday at 10.30pm from muzik sistem, cikgu art asked me “Apa macam malan ini?” I said “Chelsea 1 Barcelona 2″…

The BIG showdown tonight!!

(Photo: Uefa)

See Deco, Eto, Ronaldinho kick Chelsea's butt tonight!!

Waited for more than 3 months, tonight is the time most football fans, not only in Malaysia, but all the world, will witness one of the most anticipated football match of 2006, its Chelsea vs Barcelona. And I cant wait to see Ranaldinho dance again! Still remember how he danced past John Terry last year and put the ball back in the net over Petre Cech.

Chelsea, nicknamed “the billionaire club” because of its owner Roman Abamovich, has dominated English Football since two years back, Barcelona, arguably the best football team in Europe at the moment, will want to take revenge on Chelsea tonight after being dumped out by the “Blues” last year in the quater finals

Taruh hebat hebat on Barcelona since Chelsea is giving ball, wahahaha….

p/s: just my thought, dont taruh your house ye…..
