ok, here comes the last one…
its CELCOM (019)
My mom is a Celcom user, and very soon, WAS a Celcom user, once i get a subline of DIGI to mom.
My mom uses Nokia 3100, the phone which has colour screen but no camera, she wanted to put her grandson’s photo as the phone’s wallpaper. So, i snapped some photos using my phone, and ready to sent via MMS to her number, so, I called the Celcom helpline to activate the GPRS and get it done.
The Celcom system sent multiple sms setting and ask you to save the configurations to your phone (like other operators). What is the diffrent Celcom from other operators: After saving, the GPRS wont work. First, i double check all the setting, server, address, log in name, password… blah blah…., and then called the helpline, requested for another set of configurations.
Wo, i forgot to tell you, after i called the help line, i had to wait for few days before the setting arrived, maybe those sms was in KL, and it took longer time to reach Alor Setar.
Still, the GPRS wont work. Coincidently, my bro and mom was going to Penang, and at Prangin Mall or some plaza, there were this stupid Celcom promotion going on. So my mom approached them at the venue and even the staff there could not figure out the settings hands on.
Back to Alor Setar, my mom INSISTED me taking her to the huge Celcom building located opposite Kurnia Insurance, I was reluctant to go and asked my mom to change line instead, however, i gave in.
So, we were there. The place is HUGE, super huge, more than 10 counters, beautifully lit waiting place, nice furnitures, about 50 customers, but…. but! only two counters were stationed!!!
Nevermind, i took a number, it was about still 25 more people to go before it reaches my turn, that means not all 50 at the scene waiting for their numbers or they came in groups. So, i told my mom, i am gonna walk to the JPJ, which is about 400 metres away, to renew my driving licence, and come back to Celcom.
Yes, you are right! After renewing my licence and coming back sitting in the huge waiting area, only 2 numbers were up. That was about 30 minutes, that means it took 15 minutes to serve one customer. Fine, i still can wait, since i was with my PDA, i could play games.. online check mails…. write craps in uglymen.net…
10… 20…. 30 …. minutes…. 1hour…….2 hours….
Still the number was going really really slow!! I hardly can stand anymore. And suddenly, the unexpected happened!
One of the customers waiting there, a tall ruggard chinese middle age guy, stood up, shouted so loud that even the malay a pek sitting in front of me who was sleeping soundly got shocked and waken up.
This is what he said more or less (He stood infront of all waiting customers):
Kawan Kawan, bangun la! apa xxx xxxx Celcom buat? Banguan besak, tunjuk kuat kuat, buat pandai pandai, tapi kerja macam tahi!, saya sudah tunggu 3 jam! Semua kawan kawan sini, kita complain sama sama la, buat counter banyak buat ape? orang pun tak dak…
The whole atmosphere was suddenly hot, and even two security guards came in but did not take any action…
the speech continued…
“Kita ni bayar Celcom untuk duduk sini tiduk ka?? (i started to clap my hands very loudly which my mom tried to stop me, soon others followed on clapping)…
“selalu datang kena tunggu, service ni #$%^&* , dan TY#U#RIW(&@^&@&%(….”
at this moment, the guards escorted that brave guy to the counter and served him immediately, but just like all of us, he was not satisfied, he wanted to see the manager of the office to no avail, and he asked for a complain number, which he got it, and called and spoke very angrily to the person answering the call, he also took his cell phone, directing us to shout complaints to the phone…
surprisingly, after that drama, two more counters openned and the customer flow was a little, just a little faster…
tell you what, after 3 hours of waiting, my mom finally got to the counter and the GPRS problem never got solved!!
Bottom Line~
Face to face serivce: its worth definitely, to wait for 3 hours and enjoy a drama at the Celcom office
Help line: too bad, when you get to the line, you may be already dead long ago
Product: anything that has connection to Telekom Malaysia suck BIG BIG time, everyone knows that i’m sure
Worth: you better save your money and buy extra copies of Uglymen CD

want to correct u for the maths here
2 counter 2 number up in 30mins
means 1 customer require 30mins service time, not 15mins
and their service quality varies from place to place
so what u r saying just apply to alor star
not in whole malaysia
for the setting
check celcom web for help?

good correction Rambo, so the stupid couter were serving 30minutes per customer, and off cos i restart the phones for countless times, there were no OTA back then.
to save all the trouble, my mom changed to Maxis.
ya, those two in Alor Setar and Penang sucked very much.
