As i mentioned in the previous post, time subject to change, but not even i could expect after posting just one day, the date already has been postponed too.

Original Date: 11 and 12 Feb 2007
New Date: 14 and 15 Feb 2007

This coming Monday, Kedah MB will be going abroad with PM, since he will be the one to open the ceremony, all banners, newspaper report, leaflets, had gone to waste. Now a BIG TIME alteration must be carried out. Including the police force, emcee for the day (I got to know the Emcee has a function on 15 Feb), PA System supplier, singers, performers from outstations, all have to re-arrange their schedule.

I will update here if the date is changed again

 

Come 11th and 12th February 2007, will be one of the BIGGEST festival celebrated in Alor Star for many many years.
Half of Jalan Putra (Alor Star town most happenning road) will be closed from 5pm to 1am each day. It will be a huge chinese cultural event, shows including:

-Lion Dance
-Game show
-DJ
-Chinese Orcehstra
-400 stalls of hawkers food and other stuff
-Karaoke
-Local Artistes
-Live Bands

Yeah, u read the last one, there will be two bands performing in Jalan Putra street on 12th Feb (not 11th Feb)

5pm-6pm — DJ music
6pm-7.30pm — Game Show
7.30pm-8.15pm — Local Artiste
8.15pm-8.45pm — UGLYMEN band
8.45pm-9.15pm — Local Artiste
9.15pm-10.15pm — Hai Lang band
10.15pm-10.30pm — Chinese Orchestra / Local Artistes with Hai Lang band
10.30pm-11.15pm — Cant Remember What….
11.15pm-12.30pm — Hai Lang band

I assume it is huge event as MB and many “always in the newspaper people” will be there.

… and Uglymen name wrongly spelled again

These banners are being put up in certain places of Alor Star town.

Uglymen will be playing hit songs from the UGLY album and some covers. While, Hai Lang band, famous to the locals in the 70′s and 80′s, is playing a reunion show for the first time in more than 20 years. Veteran drummer Ah Thye, bassist Ah Hwa, keyboardist Ah Boon, vocalist Ah Foo and Ah Min (Lau Fu Zhi), and they hired a cheap guitarist called michael as their former guitarist no longer around in town.

P/S: Yesterday the news of this show was published in a chinese press… it translated Uglymen as “丑陋的男人乐队” < -_-">

Since I was the emcee for the whole show, i could not take many photos and could not pay attention to most of the performance.

But one thing i am sure is Ah Suan will TL if he saw what or how Oceans played. Oceans guys need to add oil in preparation for the Grand Finals. I thought the performance and preciseness of executing phrases was much poorer compared to what we saw in the the Asian Beat Malaysian finals December last year. Scully's drums went off too often, and Jonathan turned behind to watch him… (-_-”)  Kelvyn could be cleaner and though Chiat's chick-ke-chuck rhythm strumming clearly improved but the band seemed much looser compared to a month ago.
