letter from a fan

our close friend and collaborator, uncle beh beh has been marketing us on the internet lately. he posted our clips to forums i.e. beyond, metallica etc. of course ANG MOH KAOs were laughing until they shit in their pants :D kekeke

at one of the beyond forums where uncle beh posted our video clips, there was one reply from forumer who was fond of our music. actually, we don’t know this guy but he has been following us for a year… can you believe that? its… WOW, AMAZING! and the thing is, he followed us on our website and hasn’t even seen us play live before, but basically he’s been reading our news and probably know more about us than ourselves. :)

here’s his reply to uncle beh beh was very ENCOURAGING and TOUCHING to us. we never felt this high before except in the toilet when we need to service ourselves. anyway, here it is:

dear beh beh,

i’ve been keeping an eye on this band for more than a year and i’m quite shy to admit that i’ve not purchased their album although it has been out for quite some time.

i’ve never watched any of their live performance but judging from their youtube singapore live clips, i would like to mention that their performance is ass-kicking. i could feel the “joe satraini band” tightness in the band. all band members did their part very well.

i would like to comment the above while reiterate one of your “long-long time ago” statement “i don’t want to spend my hard-earned money on worthless band”. this band is worth every single cent you spent on their album and every single support you’ve given to them. they walk the talk and not just talk and talk.

this singapore lives earned them another uglymen fan and one more sale for their album.

chear

reading such email reply from a stranger lifted our motivation to another level. never felt so good. its heart warming to know that all the hard work and sweat have actually made a person’s music appreciation to include ours, thank you. now, where is our guitarist when we need him here. hey, michael-”joe-satria“-lee, where are you? kaneh… reply to people lah… @#$%^&*

p/s: i like seamus chear, cause he writes email like me, all lower casse, no UPPER case. bwahahaha…

hi, my name is joe satria lee, although my friends always mistaken my name for michael.

i just came back from Penang after jamming with uglymen and waching Oceans of Fire.

your mail is important to us chear, at least you let us know we are doing something worthy to others and not we outselves mas——ing on stage ka ki song only.

off course we have a long way to go, and to be compared to Joe, haha… thank you for your complement but i think if Joe knows this, he will laugh until HAIR grow out from his bald head…

    kekeke…

hope to meet up with you some day chear!

    cheers.

    hi. chear here.
    1. you guys deserve the compliments. it’s quite hard to express or deliver the “tightness of a band” feel to listeners when you are in a 3-piece band but you guys delivered it in singapore.
and it’s more difficult when you need to cover rhythm and lead sections. singapore performance showed that each members tried to cover those “void” when the other member taking over the lead section and being able to do it is quite impressive. hence, giving me the satriani band feel there. you won’t be able to tell that they are actually a 3-piece band.
    2. another thing i like about uglymen is that the “flame” is still there and “ego” has not surfaced. eg. being 3-piece beyond didn’t kill the band. the ego did bring beyond down. and the fact that the issue of 4 members down to 3 is being tackled positively is actually a very important factor contributing to a band advancement.
    3. i observe uglymen play mostly 4-member beyond songs. i believe 3-member beyond did produce some nice tune. looking forward to you guys playing some of them.
    4. coffee?? sure. i’m in kl.
rock on and keep up the good works.

chear!!! thank you for the kind words. it really made our days better. by the way, since you are in KL, will you be going to watch the yamaha asian beat band competition? if you ask me, please go and watch. you will not regret and you will come home impressed by all the bands from around ASIA.

we have cool friends in KL who organize gigs from time to time. if we are down to KL again for gigs, we can surely meet up. i hope this time round, we dont rush like mad cause usually when we perform in KL, it is always a rush going to several places.

do you play in a band? or do you have a website? share with us. :)
