New Category and First Post

March 17th, 2007 by michael · 24 Comments

If you guys notice, every post in Uglymen.net is categorized. Like News, Events, Hot Chick of The Month…

I am adding this category “Michael-One School” to post about what’s happenning and all stuff related to my music lessons and students. I decided to post it here in order to save time for updating www.michael-one.com, since my friend and I both could not update often. However, this does not mean michael-one will be idle, i will still update with events, photos, and other stuff, in addition, most music related topics which could not be found in Uglymen.net can be seen there.

One of the reasons I am writing this first post regarding my music teaching career is because of a student.

I am not good in relating my feelings into words so i just shoot straight what i feel and how i will react.

I have been teaching music for nearly 14 years, about 300 students, came accross all kinds, good, industrious, funny, caring, kia-su, kiam siap, si ai bin, timid, talkative, big canon, lazy, come just for fun, joined the class because parents took me as a babysitter so they can just drop their child for two hours here and went shopping, some students like to join lesson then spread bad rumours with cruel intentions about you (just ask Cikgu Badrul), some already became my brother and sister, and best friends… Just in case you dont know, Paul Ooi (uglymen.net sponsor) and Sucky Ric were both my students back in the 90s, Silver Isle must be one of the most hard working…

There are some students who already established themselves in the music scene like the very hardworking Teik Yan (Signature’s guitarist), Wooi Min (Piano teacher in Singapore now), Chan Tap Fatt (guitar teacher)

Off course there are some bad ones too, like students who never pay fees but insisted they paid and said they threw away the receipt already (just ask the clerk of Muzik Sistem); Some students always say “I am now out-station”, but later he was met by another student at a local shopping mall pulak….

but none came close to this one, whom i have to say, must be one of the worst in many years…

As a teacher, I do not put income as my highest priority (ya, you can kick me), if i do, I would have already long ago teaching in Penang or KL, rather than in Alor Star which has a ridiculous range of lesson fees. Example: A beginner electric guitar student’s monthly fee in Alor Star range from RM40-RM55, while in Penang is RM100 - RM120.

This boy (form 4 guy), comes from a rich family. Co-incidently, i crossed swords before with his father many years back while i was still doing PC service, I am more than dare to say he was one of the niao-est customer i ever had. His son, came to the school early this year. In class, did not want to learn what i teach. There was once he refused to take out his music book, but switched on his hand phone MP3, and asked me to catch the song and teach him. I am fine with that since he liked it. But as time went by, he got worse. There were many times, he came to class, refused to play, and tell me, “nevermind i din learn a thing, i pay you the fee and you just play some songs for me”. Well, I explained to him that is not how things work. But he insisted I play, nevermind then…. Later, he was absent for a couple of times and the scholl boss (Mrs Ng) called him up and asked about, he replied “I am very busy, dont worry, i will pay my fees”… As if we just care about his fees… he doesnt know if he wasnt there and other students could be slotted into his time…

As you can see, he is not my private student, i teach him in a school, he was allocated to me by the school, and i am obliging my responsibility as an employee to teach. If he is my private student at home, he can cha cha kiss my ass good bye.

He was constantly changing his hand phone number until Mrs Ng also had to find ways to contact him. When contacted, he said “i am a little bit mystery and i dont want people to know my phone number”   What the fuck is your phone for then…

Few days back, he called me on my cell, asking me whether he can invite a friend to join him in his class, learning a different instrument with him at the same time, below is the conversation:

Boy: hey u know who i am?
Me: (recognised his voice), you are xxxx.
Boy: Shit la you, off course you know me.
Boy: can my friend join me in my class (another music instrument)
Me: Can not la, its totally different
Boy: Shit la. What if I say can?
Me: I say can not.
Boy: Why cannot? I think should be ok
Me: If you dont believe, why not you enrol for that instrument and see…
Me: It is different from what you are learning.
Boy: Shit la you, you think I stupid ah, ask me to buy new instrument…
Boy: I am poor you know, crazy you ask me buy instrument

(For your information, his family is fucking rich, but i dont give a damn with rich kid either)

Me: You dont want buy, then how you know they are diffrent instrument

(at this point, i was feeling fucking retarn talking to this moron)

Boy: My friend 100% cannot join my class?
Me: Yes.
Boy: Are you sure or not?
Me: Yes
Boy: Is it 100%?
Me: (trying to stay calm) Yes…
Boy: Shit. Really cannot try ah?
Me: Yes

The boy ended the phone call with asking his regular lesson time. Oh, i nearly miss out, he once called Mrs Ng from upstairs asking Mrs what time was his class. His class was 11.30am, but i added some time for a previous student to 11.40am. He called down to Mrs and ask “wat time is my class? How come i still cant go in” Typical rich people lansi pattern…

I dont think this kid is stupid, i think he seriously needs mental assistance or he will be soon in critical. He thinks money is everything, he pays the fee and can act what he likes and EXPECT what others, including his teacher to follow what he wants to do…

Fuck, tomorrow is his class again, i really hope he reads this.

hey Michael, here’s a lame question.
What’s the difference between bowling n nose digging?

Bowling, u throw n it rolls
Nose digging, u roll it then u throw.

    Ok, not funny.

    :op

hahaha, funny and sad too. this is *indeed* a good read. i hope you music school will get some interest from post(s) here.

there are still unfortunate people out there who aren’t lucky to be nurtured when they were young. some people do act as if the world is theirs. parents or parents-to-be should really ponder for a long time that having great income coming in to the household will *not* directly educate their kids to be someone with great behaviour or attitude. it will be a *mistake* to assume that.

that student of yours should be *taught* to be respectful to others. u know what? i dont think he will change or give a damn when he reads this. he’s too young to understand.

  • Rossie // Mar 17, 2007 at 9:05 am

Very sad to know that this kind of people actually exist. He’s only a student now, and with that attitude, he’ll get himself in trouble sooner or later. Parents play a big part too, no doubt how his parents are. I have quite a hot temper sometimes, if I were you Mike, not sure whether I can keep my cool after so many “shits” are thrown in my way. I especially hate it when rich people say that they are poor for one reason or the other, feels like taking a chair and smashing it right into his face.

Some of my friends’ are really well-off, but I don’t see them acting as asses; in fact, they are as humble as one can be, and their parents are great human beings. I think this attributes to the way and how they brought up their children, teaching them the right ways of life, and the correct concept of money.

  • SilverIsle // Mar 17, 2007 at 9:30 am

Jaws, very lame joke, but still I’m laughing. Kekeke. =D

And dear author, please remove a sentence from your post, I guess you know what I mean. =P

  • Gnap // Mar 17, 2007 at 10:50 am

Many years ago, i had to give up piano lessons bcos my family could not afford it, and there are people like this (*&^$%#*%*@#*) who got money have this blardy attitude??!!!

    NOT FAIR! NOT FAIR!

Ok, release tension di, feel better now. hehheehe

Aiyo, Mike. Why not come to Penang to teach lar. I wish you come teach in Penang lar…

Yar, I’ve met conceited, spoilt people like that b4 too. In this kid’s case, i think is the parents problem never teach him properly. One day, he is going to realise this way of life turn him into a BIG LOSER. By the time, unfortunately, may be too late for him. How pitiful actually.

  • Jastin // Mar 17, 2007 at 11:29 am

tell your friend i send him this message…

” dear moron, you are so stupid because you dont realise that everyone thinks you are an idiot that doesnt respect people. your parents will not be there for you forever. if you keep this up, one day when they die youll be left alone with littleor no true friends becasue you are an idiot with a bad attitude. ”

” actually people just put up with you becasue of your money. if you lose your welath one day, even the beggar willnot be your friend. you will have to dig your own grave and bury yourself becasue you are an idiot with bad attitude.”

no one likes an idiot with bad attitude.

you better change and dont be an idiot with bad attitude you idiot with bad attitude. so to the people out there reading this…please dont be an idiot with bad attituide like this idioat with bad attitude.

  • michael // Mar 18, 2007 at 2:36 am

good one Kel, but i doubt even any one will put up with him bcos of his money, cos he is like a wasted youth to me. Though i still hope he will change.

surprisingly, he acted “quite” decently today, perhaps he read this… well, i dont care either.

some friends saw this post and told me to be careful on my posting regarding my lessons as this may spark vengience and get myself in trouble.

well, all i have to say is…..

    “you do me first day,
i do you your butt 15″

waste my time writing this stupid post…

  • michael // Mar 18, 2007 at 2:42 am

  • michael // Mar 18, 2007 at 2:47 am

    yo jastin..

some poeple are TOO lucky and they duno that they are actually lucky to be born rich, they think they are destined to be like that, the earth owes them everything, and in this life, everything belongs to him…

instead of telling him what you guys thought about him, i rather sit down under my porch and talk to my dog, still can see her wag wag the tail some more…

  • fleaman // Mar 18, 2007 at 9:27 am

Bro, send the boy to me… i take him for a one day lesson! like play golf, paintball… drinking.. n some drugs..! what say.. u

  • taisuan // Mar 18, 2007 at 11:06 am

good write from kelvyn, true to the point.

mike, not to worry about your post jeopardizing your lessons. i think you ARE the ONLY teacher whose credibility is worth too MUCH for people to jeorpadize. if students are serious about learning music and bringing them to their life, they will appreciate the lessons of music/life.

  • Gnap // Mar 18, 2007 at 11:50 am

I see the Kelvyn comment, laugh until i almost die! Full of conviction and so funny at the same time. :P

  • michael // Mar 18, 2007 at 11:58 am

hahaaha… i just doing my job as a teacher, not really care about what i contributed to the music scene…

and for this boy’s case, i think is also my duty to tell the world how fucked up he is….

flea… please also take him to kayu hitam..

  • taisuan // Mar 18, 2007 at 12:15 pm

eh… u alright already ah? i’m still blur. i asked my doctor to give me a good antibiotic, it’s called AUGMENTIN.

    what sick u get?

  • michael // Mar 18, 2007 at 12:51 pm

i did not visit the doc, just slept and woke up, still something not right in my stomach, but is better now.

  • taisuan // Mar 18, 2007 at 1:01 pm

me still blur… i think one of the flu medicine made me dizzy… when i’m supposed to sleep, i woke up to post at uglymen.net

  • sQu@ll // Mar 18, 2007 at 5:17 pm

Augmentin is a good antibiotic. You should be able to get well soon. :)

  • Rossie // Mar 18, 2007 at 6:44 pm

Mike, eat six hamburgers one go, preferably Big Macs, or the Burger King equivalent of Big Mac (can’t remember what name…). Your stomach will get well soon enough before you can eat the 7th! At the same time, great way to diet too!

    lol…

  • taisuan // Mar 18, 2007 at 11:35 pm

sQu@ll, thanks man! i’m getting a lot better now. i think i’m at 95% well already. i seldom get this kind of fever i.e. a fever that ache the body and body temperature rising. another fever (which is more common) is having sore throat first, high fever, then running nose then cough for 2 months. i hate the latter kind of sickness.

  • SilverIsle // Mar 18, 2007 at 11:50 pm

Rossie… Mike doesn’t eat meat, herbivore he is. LOL. =P

P/S: I wanna resume my guitar lesson! I wanna resume my guitar lesson! I wanna resume my guitar lesson!
