yeah, they are coming. mike and i are busy at the moment. too many things to do — work related. the trip really changed the three of us. our hearts and souls are still lingering in taiwan.
how nice if we could stay longer or make the trip more often. we may consider to do such trip more often, maybe like a yearly event. we were thinking of playing a music festival in hong kong this year but whether we can make it there thru the band selection is yet to be known.
the trip to taiwan really OPENED up our mind. we thought we have seen most bands and performances but we were humbled and pulled down to earth with some shattering performances and musicianships of other bands, mainly USA and japanese bands. the dedication of these musicians were top notch. they were extremely serious with their sound, musical style and image/message. we NEVER seen such dedication before from amateur bands. these people KNEW what they want and what they want to do with their short life. living up to 80 years of age is fast.
we learnt a lot of lessons of other people’s culture, manners, attitude and musical taste. after the 4 days in taiwan, we have decided on what we want to do with our musical path. we know what we want and we know how to achieve it. whether we can achieve it… it will be a different story BUT the hunger to achieve it is THERE. it will be difficult but success is a constant journey not destination. we do not like destination because destination will stop us from doing things further. not sure if you guys understand what i am saying. but this trip, compared to 3 years ago, WAS nothing. we probably gained so much knowledge from this trip that we can use for our experience in many years to come.
oh… by the way, uglymen is the FIRST band/musicians from malaysia to perform at SPRINGSCREAM which is at its 13th year. crazy… i dont know why other local bands are not applying to play there. it was so much fun. and to be truthfully honest, in our OWN opinion, we WERE the WORST dressed bands/musicians in the whole SPRINGSCREAM festival. MALAYSIA BOLEH! michael wore slippers for 4 days including going to airport, on the airplane, dinner, breakfast etc. he wore shoes for 2 hours, during our performance on the 3rd day. MALAYSIA CUKUP BOLEH! 3 of us slept with our bermuda shorts and the same bermuda shorts were worn throughout our trip/sightseeing in TAIWAN! MALAYSIA CUKUP DAHSYAT DAN EXTREMELY BOLEH!! you can imagine the stench/smell of our odour.
we like to thank one of the main persons who organized SPRINGSCREAM, jimi moe for bringing us to perform in this such wonderful festival. springscream started in 1995 and you can read its history here. here’s out photo with jimi.

Malaysia shd have some kind of band association to support and sponsor our homegrown talents to go for this kind of event - for exposure, experience and let the world see our KEHEBATAN!!

Gnap, I wish and hope that Malaysia can support MUSIC like bands stuff…but …. you think our country will support this type of things?? Nearly impossible for asking our country to support this type of act… its sad but true!!!!!
