Rossie // Jun 22, 2007 at 2:18 am
Is it neck heavy? The maple neck + ebony board sounds heavy compared to the basswood body…

michael // Jun 22, 2007 at 10:02 pm
tomorow NO band class, probably all classes will be cancelled too, i am having #$%^&* asthma 4th day liao.
michael // Jun 22, 2007 at 10:04 pm
Rossie, the guitar is very light, as u know, basswood is cheap, i purposely chose it, so it will be very light, the weight of the guitar will be compansated by the Callenham bridge, which is super heavy, its amazing that piece of shit costs so much…
michael // Jun 22, 2007 at 10:05 pm
Kelv, yeah yeah, i’m gonna land my hands on the K2 for sure…
michael // Jun 22, 2007 at 10:11 pm
Rossie, how’s your axe going on? coming soon liao?
Chear // Jun 23, 2007 at 10:57 am
hi michael.
what made you chose the kinman pickup? any particular reason or because you are trying to emulate certain tone? thanks
Rossie // Jun 23, 2007 at 11:33 am
Oh, don’t look as the basswood as an el cheapo wood la, it’s one of the best woods for guitar… It’s cheap because there’s alot of it around…
According to John Suhr, the ultimate tone wood for a guitar is a basswood body capped with a maple top… Did you ever thought of capping it with a maple top? It would look so freaking awesome!
My guitar will be here around mid august gua, can’t wait……………………..
michael // Jun 24, 2007 at 1:49 pm
Chear,
Kinman pickups have the cleanest / noiceless single coil tone around, and they blended well with 3-piece Uglymen. Where all drum, bass, guitar parts can be heard clearly.
Chear // Jun 25, 2007 at 9:59 am
hi michael,
hope you get well soon on your asthma.
back to the pickup, have you ever consider fender’s pickup before you go for kinman? i’m considering of changing to either a fender 54′, 57′/62′ or 69′? any suggestion on that? TQ
michael // Jun 25, 2007 at 2:35 pm
hi Chear,
A very good question for comparing Fender and Kinman…kekekek…
I think below will once and for all clear any questions on Kinman pickups. You will need to read tehm slowly and patiently though. These are discussions from ang moh kao forums, and an experiment was also carried out Kinman vs Fender by a University of Queensland student, where Kinman KO Fender.
Read also how they rate Kinman. It says Kinman’s characteristics are impossible, but there they are.
1) Fender wished Kinman would have worked for them, oh, and the first review was done by some one familiar here back in 1999, all reviews gave 10/10:
http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews/Electric+Guitar+Pickup/product/Kinman/AVn-59+Single/10/1
2) Kinman vs Fender, Bill Lawrance, Lace Censor, Seymnour Duncan. Kinman KO all of them. Read second entry.

3) A Thesis from student of University of Queensland, again, Kinman KO Fender
http://www.kinman.com/images/inside/toneWorkshop/perfectGuitar/Spectral%20comparison%20of%2056%20-%20SCN.pdf
However, you need to listen to the real tone to get the better idea of it, where are you based Chear, you are always welcome to try out the pubs on my guitar.
hope above helped.
