ever wonder why penang bridge toll charges never increase all these years? because there’s so bloody lot of vehicles traveling through it every day and increasing every year up to the point where itsĀ virtually saturated to death. and almost every day and perhaps ALWAYS EVERY WEEK, thousands of vehicles are stucked on penang bridge whenever there’s a trivial breakdown or sissy accident. for instance yesterday, the bridge was stopped to a crawl. i was driving from bayan lepas to town area at 3pm and the traffic was starting to crawl starting at Villa Emas condo. i took a turn to U-park condos and drove through gelugor.
i thought there was some accident… then when i finished work at 7:15pm, i drove through jelutong expressway and was caught in a jam starting from ocean view condos. imagine the traffic jamming up from 2 ways; one from bayan lepas, one from jelutong, all heading to penang bridge. it was damn frustrating and i only got home at 8:30pm instead of 7:45pm. the mammoth view of cars lining up to penang bridge is sore and disheartening. what if someone needs to be sent to hospital and got stuck? what if someone is stucked on the bridge but he really wants to shit? where does he shit? in his car? arghhh~~~ what if a family is driving to the airport to send their kids to overseas?
penangites have gone thru this worse than our klang valley counterparts. penang bridge is the only link between prai and bayan lepas area. ferry service is not even considered a viable transportation unless u r prepared to spend about an hour in a jam and getting into the ferry and slowly to the other side.
i’m at lost for words…

Too many cars are going thru penang bridge each day. Recently, there are some contructions going on to widen the bridge. It makes the traffic worst. Especially every friday, there’s sure will be a massive traffic jam after working hour. Usually, I will wait until around 9pm to go back hometown. That time, the traffic is better a bit.
