another year draws to an end, (ok, it ended already, this post was written two weeks ago!) and 2007 was one of the most exciting years throughout the 15 years of my music-teaching / musician’s career. as i am again tied down with work, and also stupid fever and flu… i’ll make this one short. the more SIGNIFICANT stories, from 20th to 1st:

at NUMBER 20~
“The rise and rise and then… collapse of Uglyboyz”
Uglyboyz were carefully crafted to be what they are today, sadly, members’ commitment is at a miserable level

at NUMBER 19~
“student band ITOSII making waves in Astro & RTM”
ITOSII remains the best band i’ve ever taught, well-mannered, industrious, highly disciplined. in 2007, they played in numeorus TV shows and appeared on Astro and RTM, including playing “Love Bubble Tea” and “Missing You”

“smashed guitar for the 2nd time”
ok… nothing to shout about, but i was very sad, bcos the guitar failed to break into two. the first time i smashed was back in 2005 at Malito gig in Sri Kembangan (forgot the gig name… Band Sound?) darn it! this guitar did not break after two smashings…

“Uglymen appeared in local newspapers, French TV documentary, online news, giant banners”
Fabio, a producer in France chose Uglymen to feature in his French musical documentary; appeared in Sin Chew many times, online news portal many days, appeared in Sarawak’s local newspapers….. and still nobody knows who the hell is Uglymen… HOO RAY!! men? wat men? Uglymen??! who the hell is that?

“Uglyboyz hired for christmas countdown gig”
have u ever heard of a band, where its members only averaged 14 years old, played in a pub for over an hour paid-gig, on christmas eve? in front of a full house crowd drowing with alchohols among others… (p/s: Uglyboyz are not alchoholics)

“Manchester United are the Best!
Ok ok… i noe this is not music-related, but still it is one of the important stories to me in 2007.. Sorry Arsenal, sorry sorry Chelsea, sorry sorry sorry Liverpool…. devils are the best, and MU won the title with two games to spare.

“welcome back long-long hair”
the last time i had long hair was back in september 2005 (half wat to waist), i dont think it really looked good, it really looked ugly on me, but i like it… yeah! that’s why we are UGLYMEN!!

“Uglymen go wireless”
hooi and me got wireless and we can roam around the house (pub), while hooi can play bass and con some chicks at the same time, i can go outside buy some food while still playing,,, pity suan, he has to sit there…wahahahaha…. dont get me wrong, getting a wireless is nothing to show off, but to uglymen, it may just help us move around more as we have lots of choreographs and dance moves in our songs.

an unforgettable trip for uglymen to Kentington, being the very first Malaysian band to play in the annual Spring Scream international music festival, thanks to our nicest friends Becky & Pei Yu, the trip was marvellous at its best.

“all-girls-fronlined Eclipse”
in conjunction with the Yu Lan Sheng Hui festival street band show, the band X-Malaysia was formed (later Eclipse), and performed in a few venues in alor star and penang. the band is no where near excellence but shown every one what confidence and determinataion can help to realize dreamz, even if its a small one to others.
