Yesterday, I went to collect my very first custom built guitar from art-tune a Penang local guitar shop. I called up Suan and ask him to try out my new guitar sound; as the same time, he also bring along his blackie.
My guitar is a MExico Fender strat, I changed fretwires, pickups, nobs, 5 channel switch…basically everything but the wood and machine head of the guitar. Remember I told you guys I am going to built my very 1st custom built guitar for myself??? Here it is!!!

Before putting up those parts…
The work in putting the guitar parts together is done by DIN, allah-DIN, god of guitar and god father of rock&roll from Penang. Thanks to him!! His work its superb!!! Great in every works he done for my guitar - fret works!! wiring works!! work in setting, tuning and blancing up those pickUPs!!!
I used to be a hambarker’s fans for long long long time and this is my 8th guitar(2 acoustics, 6 electric guitars in my collection). within the 6 electric guitars in my collection, 4 of them are equip with EMGs, I love and believes EMGs are more powerful than other pickups and I love it sounds; Then till I met this angkong(god)”TaiSuan”!!! He introduced me true single coil pickup and this had changed my taste towards “pickUps sound liking” totally!!!
As I prefer more powerful sounding pickups, so in the pickups selection, I chose lollar’s SPECIAL, its the most powerful true single coil pickUps within lollar’s model, it has the maximum out put; where as Suan’s lollar BlackFace has softer out put then mine.

Yesterday, we tried with the same amp, same setting…. My guitar got more ticker tone, stronger sounding…My guitar is more suitable for playing heavy stuff…I like both guitar’s sound…where Suan’s, it got killer CLEAN tone!!!
From this experience, I started to understand that single coil also can generate tick/powerful sound by working together with the guitar amp. You have to know how to drive your amp with your axe in generating the sound, tone you like.
Now, I started to understand why ppl said hambarker is noisy, dirty…I love my very first debut custom built guitar!!! and I would like to say a BIG thanks to Mr.AngKong SUAN!!! For introduce me single coil pickuPs!! Mikey for helping me find this beauty!!!Last but not least, Thanks to Din for the wonderful, superb workmanship in putting all those parts together for me and help me tune up the guitar with tiptop condition!!!

I have to work hard on the guitar before I can jam with uglymen!!!kekekeke..I might getting 100watt mashall amp or reny(spell correct???)’s tube amp(introduced by suan one)…It’s my wish and dream that one day be able to jam together with uglymen!!!

I own, Gibson LesPaul Joe Perry, Fender Ash Deluxe Strat, Fender Mexico Strat(this one), ESP KH-2 Vintage(Kirk Hammett signature series), Ibanez S540ltd(this was my first high range electric guitar, S had been with me 10 plus years already, still rocking and sound good!!), Steinberger(spell correct????), Ovation Custom Lengend 1969, Yamaha Acoustic…the list will continue grow, becoz I love guitars!!!

Eg/ Tai Suan orders his custome made pedals…

I got your point here!! that’s correct, I think this is not a 100% custom built….
I want a 100% custom built but I am worry that the wood..when puting the body and the neck it won’t fit or not good…Plus during that time, one of mikey’s student want to let go this guitar with cheap price!!! Whenever I saw good deal I normally won’t let it go away one…kekekeke..
I spent only RM2800 for this guitar, everything included…
I had studied Fender strat Mexico’s wood not bad, even its not in high ranging fender strat but its good enough…
Sorry, am I spell wrong?? “Custome” or “Custom”???? coz’ after reading yours, I think i had made mistake…I make the correction from “custome” to “custom”…
I basically changed 80% of the parts, the fretwires, bridge, pickups, nobs, nobs’ cover…
Its had killer tone!!! I am preparing and saving money for get an amp for it…

You should have keep some of the guitars that came to your hand!!! You sold one Fender long long long time ago..I think long till we haven’t meet yet…I heard from DIN, that one was GOOD one!!!!
Nowadays, guitars with good wood one are selling in very high price as the good wood one are lesser and lesser liao…
CB Suan poison me, and I bought the Fender Ash Delux not long ago…juz within this month..but with good deal!!! that one I have let you try out one day, also got killer tone. This one everything I will keep as orginal and it has S-switching system, got a switch in the “volume” nob…when you push down the switch it has the hambacker’s sounding, very powerful…later if got chance I post the photo of this beauty here!!!

errr…. we got a new costume (jumpsuit) coming up. i got a new pedal coming (4-in-1 pedal) as pictured above.
the lollar is cheaper than kinman. u can get it within RM900. it sounded INCREDIBLE. i do not want to describe its sound comparing to the other brand BUT once u play lollar, u will KNOW and UNDERSTAND why there are so many guitarists out there still longing for pure single coil pickups.
the kinman is a very good pickup in the stacked single coil category. by design, kinman is not a pure single coil. it emulates single coil and it is the BEST single coil emulator out there. the kinman WILL be very suitable for ROCK type of sound, HOWEVER, u will not be able to get the authentic fender stratocaster sound.
uncle beh and i got ourselves a set of lollar strat specials and lollar vintage blackface respectively. for rock sound, the lollar specials is the most suitable.
if u get lollar strat specials, u = rock sound guitar god

huh? shit! no kidding me. did u tell me that he buy kinman before? or is it i can’t recall? @#$%^&* if u did tell me, shit man, i must have forgotten. i can’t recall lah… but i think he wont be buying one cause kinman is suitable for rock and metal. unless kaevin really wants to get the stratocaster sound.
the jumpsuit is made from the same tailor. the body builder guy called ricky. this time the design is simpler. all of us having same design. each costume around RM230. the color is earth (brownish orange). there’s a chinese character UGLY spread at the back of the jumpsuit.
i went to do first, then next day, ah hooi and leow went. if u want, u need to come to penang cause he needs to get your measurement. the color of the jumpsuit is EARTH. at first, we want to choose orange but we will look like firemen, not uglymen… tulan nia…

the tailor ricky shop is at GAMA, remember? the time when 4 of us went there to custom order. and each one of us has different design but same color? the dark blue ones…
now, we chose bright color because now most of the time only 3 of us are performing, we decided on brighter colors because brighter colors tend to fill up the spaces on stage. if we wear something dark or black, we will look “too few” on stage. hope u can understand what i mean.
make yourself free and come to penang one day to take measurement.
unless we do another different color in alor setar but it will cost us a bomb already… wakakaka.
u know what? its so difficult to get tailors to do jumpsuits cause they dont know how to do and they dont want to do and they dont want to charge because the price will be expensive. imagine RM230 for a piece of costume.

you go ask mike, mine guitar almost the same as his M1, except pickups are lollar Special and the whole guitar is fender mexico…other then tat the brigde, flet wire, everything is the same like m1…
