thanks to everyone for coming and donating to a good cause. we are blessed here, enduring RM2.70 per litre petrol is much better off than those people in szechuan, china. the gig was cool. the sound was bad, especially the drums. around 10 bands playing. i love HUI SE DI DAI and PAKU. PAKU guitarist RIZ brought his own marshall amp. his sound was crunchy and creamy, very nice.
this is the first time, new uglymen 3-piece line-up with me playing the guitar, hooi the bassist and lewis leow bashing the drums away. i haven't performed guitar on stage for 2 years. lewis played his first gig with uglymen. its a good experience but our performance was just average, in my opinion.
here's an honest review from our long time brother, fleaman:
Just got back from the charity concert… i think its a big flop from the organiser… not being able to provide a proper condition for the spectators… and marketing was bad = bad turnout!
The stage was good though…
This is my first time seeing uglymen with new members…. the drummer was so nervous.. i can see him walking here n there.. “blankedâ€â€¦ .
Comes the performance… i should say.. uglymen put up a show.. i wouldn’t say its the best.. but i believe the best will come…when the time is right…
Drummer.. did hold his ground pretty well… yeah, couple of mistakes… well nobody is perfect! and in live music… we do see mistakes!
Bassist n Guitarist…. well, i can say… hooi did the best in holding the band togather… guitarist… is as his usual self… “mr. clean†in his tone.. but i believe some blending on the tone will tightern up the group…
Overall… Uglymen perform is just on par.. but can be better…
go back to the drawing board.. n improvise according to all your individual strength…i’m sure u’ll be back… tighther…
oh yes.. we miss u mikey!
i better signoff.. now as i need my beauty sleep…
Uglymen, sorry was not able to tag along with u guys for supper…. i “jaga badan†lah!
cheers……
