ah~~~ yesterday performance was a blast. what a good feeling. uglymen performed at the INDEPENDENT ART AND MUSIC FESTIVAL at soundmaker in penang yesterday evening.
it was a blast having michael back to play with us… or rather me back playing the guitar with michael fronting a 4-piece uglymen. the crowd was average but the silent support was extremely gratifying. we can FEEL that the silent support was like having a full concentration on a show. we knew we nailed the songs down right even though there’s mistakes but the passion and fire were burning high.
and for the first time, 4 piece uglymen NEVER had a band practise before prior to the show yesterday. our schedules were tight and michael was not able to spend time to practise with us. michael’s M1 was out of action for too long that it became rusty. thanks to ocean of fire’s kelvyn yeang’s guitar that saved the day.

it will be months or years if there will be another 4-piece uglymen performance. this morning when i got up from my bed, my neck stiff. i haven’t had this sensation like 2 years already. yesterday’s performance was total all out. we played 5 songs:
1. robot
2. phak chui cheng with alternate chorus “meranchap”
3. do mi do
4. beyond medley
5. super horse.
we made new friends and the feeling were awesome. the crowd was a bit shy but they were enjoying every bit like we do.

Glad to hear that uglymen! n to rub salt into my wound… Mr. Tai Suan sms telling me… its a BLAST! He doesn’t normally get excited over things.. as its kinda a norm for them to perform!
sigh! I missed it! too many stuff to do! darn!
I heard Uncle Beh had some YOU TUBE to show soon? i’ll stay tune to that!….

the show was great, although i was EXTREMELY tired, having slept only 1.5 hours on saturday night, 3 hours on friday night, i drove to penang about 12pm sunday, played with uglym4n, drove back atound 7, and played for flamingo pub til 1.15am monday.
but nothing beats the feeling on stage with uglymen, off the 4 of us, i think i shook, head banged, danced craziest… we will have beh and shou wei’s video to show.
it was a moment to cherish, i missed this type of gig for too too long. the number of crowd was not important, essentially, the feeling was there and i tot the crowd really enjoyed our show.
i had a les paul (epiphone) there but after discussing with suan, i borrowed asian best guitarist ~ kelvin yeang’s guitar. nice. thanks again to kelv, and to chiet for his guitar strap… as u can see, it is really too long already since last i played guitar as a main instrument. even funnier, i was trying to figure out why my guitar was not sounding….until shou wei told me “the cable not plugged in your guitar yet la….”
hahahaha….
i enjoyed playing robot and super horse best, though i nearly confuse some Beyond and super horse song as i have been playing different versions with flamingo band for 7 months….
oceans of fire were as good as ever, they are oways mind-bobbling to watch.

the live,
first, when I walked in into the stage or venue, it was like a dark room…..I was like what the Fcuk??
actually I didn’t want to go in, but there was a band playing and their sound caught my attention…..
As I told you, it was dark like hell….I look up the stage, I saw, cheat(spell correct??), Johnathan(bassist), skully(the drummer) and …..My mind was like….what???? Ocean of fire without Kelvyn???? How could it be???? Ohh…later I found out, Kelvyn had changed his durian Head to handsame mid long hair dude……
It was a blast to watch Ocean of FIre play up there!!!! I really really really like their new song name “rAN RAN” or “lari lari”… Full of supirses, the arrangement was killer…of coz’ haven’t mention about their skills yet!!! as always kelyvn yang masteem got the speed…
This time I feel Ocean play more like a band compare to last time, becoz’ in the past ppl always keep their focus on Kelvyn Yang Mongo steem only……
This time got cheat play solo, jam with kelyvn Yang Mango Steem….bass solo….and the only one and the one drum solo….that’s really funny and kick ass!!!!
Keep it up Ocean!!! hope to hear Ocean 2nd album!!!! watch out for the song “ran ran”!!!!
last note, watching them again feel like relate to DreamTheather…coz’ Ocean got the simillar characteristic in music with them….LONG like 30min long song with complex arrangements…song like never have an ending one!!!! Ocean RockON!!! keep it up guys!!!!
As Uglymen’s performance if 100 points is the full points I only give 90 points….5points minus for Suan not allow Mike put “but choi Yau Yi” solo into the beyond medly and -5 points for M1 not around….
I was hoping and wishing M1 + Suan’s blackie how the sound turn up….With GREAT GREAT hope but before the gig suan did call me up for borrowing guitar….That’s really turn me down and REALLY REALLY REALLY DISAPOINTED!!!!!!
The rest of ppl have good FEEL or GOOD taste expect me…
I had bad flu, a bit dizzy, heavy running nose still coming to film them….I totally disapointed with M1 not around….
but ugly performance got pass la….they were good in the stage….
Fleaman I got it taped down….I will past it to Metal’s laptop have him upload to youtube….
then got one manmanman101 will come and give those nonsence commands… I think he is 101 the doggie…like him/her bark as her/his wishes…I will past it to hooi once I am back from my trip….
