bruce lee nearly took a flight on air asia

the legend of bruce lee tv series started on 17-october, you guys watch it? i have been following it closely everynite at 8.30pm. i missed episode 2 because i was working at a customer site in KL. anyway, i have WAITED for this tv series for years. i FIRST reported that this tv series is going to be made january 2007. when i first saw the guy who potrayed a bruce lee lookalike in stephen chow's shaolin soccer a few years ago; immediately i told myself to watch out for him. he didn't star in a lot of movies. but he's been shooting a lot of advertisements in hong kong using his bruce-lee-lookalike stature. his name is danny chan kwok kuen.

then i said to myself, its only a matter of time that someone will come up with a cool bruce lee movie with him as the main STAR. CCTV of china made the TV series with a few “martial artists” actors such as Mark Dacascos (cradle 2 the grave), Ray Park (darth maul of star wars I, TOAD of x-men) , Gary Daniels, Ernest Miller and Michael Jai White (tyson, spawn, michelle yeoh's silver hawk).

the tv series look so promising but but but… after watching a few episodes, i found it to be a bit disappointing. i found a few things inaccurate and laughable considering the story revolved in 1950s:

1. actors wear denim jeans — those with snow wash look
2. modern silk-screen t-shirts
3. video cassette player — even though VCR first made in 1956, its so expensive (USD$50,000), it can only be afforded by TV networks
4. neon lights
5. California Fitness style Human Dummy Punching Bag — probably only made in year 2000 or so

the last laughable scene that i saw was last 2 nites (episode 7), bruce lee ran to hong kong airport to meet his friend blair. the camera shot the aeroplanes… a proud malaysian AIR ASIA aeroplane was seen moving at the airport

. BWAHAHAHAHA. i think AIR ASIA CEO tony fernandez hasn't even born yet.

but what the heck, i still watch the series cause it comes with great message and philosophy.
