well well well. everyone is talking bout comic super hero right now, batman, hellboy, even the hype of spidey still around, not to forget incredible hulk, and just not too long ago, iron man, remake of 70's spy comedy 'get smart' and so on….

adam west – 60's Batman… classic

since this post is about the dark knight, i am just gonna talk about that huge bat here… after adam west finally taken the role of the cape crusader in the 60's and 70's (before adam west, there were few more versions which i do not know and never watched before) , michael keaton was the first to bring batman on to the big screen in 1989 “BATMAN”.

i enjoyed watching both keaton's Batman, as the story line was great, the bat mobile were so impressive, PLUS PLUS PLUS, Danny Elfman's sound track was simply WOW! the movie were so ALIVE. In addition, vicky vale (forgot the actress name), and michele pfeiffer as cat woman…very nice casting. i also like Joker's side kick ~ Bob, very very cute and noti (he was killed by joker near the end of the movie). and the most famous quote in the movie ~ Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?” oh, and i just remembered, the songs from the movie were performed by PRINCE! What a perfect match all the way, even the MTV, simply awesome!….. “Oh I got a life in here…. heee heee heee heee.. haaa haa haaa. huu huuu huuu…..”

val kilmer – Batman Forever 1995

Later followed by val kilmer, and finally geroge clooney. off all these batties…. i would say keaton was the best, especially when he put up a real piece of masterclass act against the then joker jack nicholson. After the earlier batman movies, then came Batman Begins, and now The Dark Knight.

george clooney – Batman and Robin 1998

i should say both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight failed to ignite the dark side of Gotham city and thus lack of the classic nostalgic comical feel and dark humour along the movie. For those who thought the dark knight was the best of the series… check out 1989 Batman, directed by Tim Burton – the king of dark movies…. sorry for those The Dark Knight die hard fans, i wil only rate a two star for this movie. while keaton's version was far more impressive getting 4.5 stars, and take note that 1989 and 2008 are 20 years apart, see how Burton did Batman 20 years ago…. less visual effects, less make up, less gimmicks….

christian bale – Batman Begins, The DarkKnight (2008)

ledger (RIP) was really impressive in The Dark Night, but if take off the more advance make-up, then compared to nicholson, nicholson gives me more feeling of a “happy-smile-face-killer” (which the joker should be), rather than ledger's chaotic psycho.

When i was young, I used to watch a few cartoons, and some i even used VHS or Bitamax tapes to record them (back then there was no Astro, Internet, VCD, and certainly not DVD).

Some cartoons i really loved to watch as they could really calm my mind or let me have a real good time relaxing. Among the many cartoons i watched when i was still in school, my favourites are (yes, they are still my favourites now):

-Scooby Doo (so funny and cannot stand that dog laughing and its antics…)
-Carebears (a lot of moral values and it depicts a wonderful world, though i am not moral-mided at all, kekeke)
-Doraemon (funny and always never fail to entertain me)
-Transformers ( more than meet the eyes, one of the best cartoons)

By 2007, one of the cartoons will come into real-life movie, it is the TRANSFORMER (by Dream Works Pictures)!

The movie will be in cinema in July 2007, 100% surely i will enjoy it.

The Hong Kong actor who played a Bruce Lee look-alike in the comedy “Shaolin Soccer'' has landed the lead role in a new Chinese television series on the late kung fu star, newspapers reported Saturday.

Chan Kwok-kwan got the role because Lee's wife and daughter, who were consulted on the casting for the series, were impressed by his physical likeness to the late star, the Apple Daily said.

In the Hong Kong martial arts comedy “Shaolin Soccer,'' Chan played a goalkeeper who sported Lee's signature yellow track suit and had the late star's gestures and expressions. Chan has also played Lee in television commercials.

Chan said he worked out and learned Jeet Kune Do _ or the Way of the Intercepting Fist, a fighting style pioneered by Lee _ to show his determination to get the role in the new TV series, the Ming Pao Daily newspaper said.

He has even sent monthly tapes of his kung fu classes and clips of him mimicking Lee to Lee's wife and daughter, the paper said.

“I'm really very happy that I got the lead role. This isn't about the money. I'm really excited to play Bruce Lee,'' the paper quoted Chan as saying.

The mainland Chinese television series will tell Bruce Lee's story in 40 episodes, and is due to begin filming in February, the Apple Daily said.

Well known movie maker, ROB COHEN is directing a new bruce lee movie by the late mr. bruce lee himself. what the ??!? bruce lee is going to be revived digitally in a movie called “RAGE AND FURY”. impossible? read on.

Yesterday i went to the cinema for the first time since 2001 (watched Spiderman with Uglymen, Ric in Bukit Jambul).

I watched this movie called “The Guardian”. I wanted to wacth a horror movie initially but have none on show, so we chose a movie by title. Surprisingly, this movie starring Kevin Costner, one of my favourite actor (Robin Hood, Dances With Wolf…)

The movie is about US Coast Guard's challenges, how they train, work, and in action in real world rescue operation. Off course, like other movies, some love stories has to be included in the movie to make it a “movie”, and when i watch till half way. I talked to my partner, if I'm not wrong, this story will end like this… like this…. (i am not gonna elaborate here just incase you guys havent watch it) let you find out yourself.

Bottom line is, the story is some wat predictable, still, it's a good movie to watch in your boring day. I had a great time with my partner enjoying the movie. Costner and Kutcher performed really well in the film and that's the plus point. The moral value of the movie is really good, dutiful, responsible, contribution, sacrifice and off course…. like in every movie, love and care.

I'll give a “B” to the movie for its almost predictable story line and ending… (similar to Armageddon, Deep Impact, Titanic, get what i mean?)

10. there will always be either winter OR seaside in the series where you see fashionable clothes being parade by actors/actresses.

9. one of the families is EXTREMELY rich and dressed EXTREMELY well.

8. there will ALWAYS be at least 2 actors/actresses who do not contribute much to the storyline but just to cheer things up.

7. the background music will always play orchestra type music where sad moments will usually play piano solo or classical guitar solo.

6. 2 brothers or 2 friends will fall for the same girl, the one who wins will spend 50% of the total TV series running time alone with the girl.

5. the sceneries (hills, mountains, lake, high rise buildings, riverside, sea) will match those from Lords of the Ring.

4. a 30-minute conversation can be easily summed up in a typical 3-minute hong kong movie conversation + some violence.

3. Starbuck or any posh restaurants are always the place for “negotation” between a torn lover and a middle person trying to patch things up AND these two people will not leave the table at the SAME time. ALL THE TIME, the person to utter the last word will be standing and start to leave while the person sitting will stare in blanks.

2. the series will always have a tragic end with one leading actor/actress having a terminal illness and hospital made up of 20% of the TV series location.

1. AND FINALLY, because of point #2 above, the person having terminal illness will always be happy while the surrounding ones will always be sad.

Yesterday I went to Tmn Golf to teach a student, then i saw many DVDs on his tables, so I browsed through them and none got my attention, then suddenly my student pointed one of them to me “The Cello” Korean horror movie, and said “This one really scared lo, my sister dare not watch alone too”…

For your information, I am a horror films freak and since life is so suck especially today (refer to “What A Day” Post), i took his words and borrowed the DVD back.

After practising guitar and piano til 2am, it's a good time to watch the movie to scare the shxt out of me.

So i popped in the DVD ANTICIPATING a rush of andrenaline…

First, the movie moved slowly for about 10 minutes, nevermind, i was patient enough to wait for something happen…. then… yeah, something DID happen, after 20minutes, I fell asleep in my studio… My mom can play “The Cello” 100 times scarier then what I saw in the movie!!

I couldnt even find a word to describe how terribly boring the film was… #$%^&*()

This made me recall the others Korean “horror” films that I watched before, that included what “The Phone”, “The Wig”, “Red Eye”….. Dont get me wrong, i am not criticising Korean horror movies here, I am #$%^&*&% Korean horror movies.

The Singapore production “The Maid” is 10 times better than any of the above movies!

Huh! I just remember, Suan came to my house about 1 month ago and he took back yet another Korean Horror VCD from me, it's called “The Red Shoe”, I havent watch it, I bought it on that day and Suan already took it…, dont bother to return me the VCD Suan, you can keep it.

brokeback mountain, directed by ang lee… haven’t watched yet…
